Blog Maybe?

So...it has been a while (MONTHS) since I have blogged anything. My original plan for the blog was just to share my passions with all of my readers. A lot of things have changed in the last SIX months, so if I can keep up with this blog, it shall be enhanced:) Now, my blog will include marriage topics, baby topics, and new home DIY projects along with all of the other things that I started the blog with. We are moving into our new house on April 30th, and Kanaan Everett Whitaker is due July 22, 2013. I'm thinking he'll be ready to show himself to the world before then though. Anyway, maybe sometime in between all of the other things going on I will do a better job of maintaining my blog and sharing my passions.

No Regrets Life

I listened to a sermon yesterday that just seemed like it was meant to reinforce the way I've always lived my life. Pastor Kerry Shook and his wife Chris have recently written a book on this principle: 30 Days to Live-No Regrets Life. The couples purpose in writing the book was to encourage people to live for thirty days like they were their last. When time becomes limited, people begin to be more intentional with their time. I have always based my life around: NO REGRETS. I will not tell you that I have no regrets, because my regrets are plenty; however, I would much rather regret doing something that turns out to be bad, then regret NOT doing it, and I miss something special. But, I will get off my podium and share with you the notes from the sermon yesterday!

30 Days to No Regrets- Pastor Kerry Shook from the Woodlands Church

Bible based: Psalms 90:12 (just for copyright purposes-all verses are from the New Living Translation Bible)

Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom

4 Principles- How Jesus Lived His Life

A.) Live Passionately- Jesus lived his life with his purpose in mind. He cared, he taught, he loved!

Safety and security in our life on Earth is just an illusion.

John 10:10- Words from Jesus
10 The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

Luke 7:31 & 32-  Why aren't we enjoying the ups and downs of life?! We have been given the world!

31 "To what can I compare the people of this generation?" Jesus asked. "How can I describe them?32 They are like children playing a game in the public square. They complain to their friends,

'We played wedding songs,
and you didn't dance,
so we played funeral songs,
and you didn't weep.'

Helen Keller made a comment once that: "Life is either a great adventure or nothing."
Why not make our lifes an adventure?

B.) Love Completely-Invest your life in others, let love be the motivation

John 13:1b- Jesus loved fully! We are supposed ot model ourselves after him.

13b He had loved his disciples during his ministry on earth, and now he loved them to the very end.

Matthew 22:37-39- The two greatest commandments! Can we really choose who to love? We should love everyone...

37 Jesus replied, "'You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.'*38 This is the first and greatest commandment.39 A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

1 Corinthians 13:8- Love is unconditional!

8 Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages* and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!

C.) Learn Humbly- Problems are nothing but life lessons to us-Thank him & put it to use

Philipians 2:5-8- We as men can't have pride but depend soley on God

5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

6 Though he was God,*
he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to.
7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges*;
he took the humble position of a slave*
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,*
8 he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal's death on a cross.

D.) Leave Boldly-We are made to leave this Earth-Change the World and Leave a Legend

Matthew 25:23- We will not only be cherished by people on earth, but when we leave, we will be judged in Heaven by the life we lead

23 "The master said, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let's celebrate together!'

The quote that I live by says:

Behind every success is effort...

Behind every effort is passion...

Behind every passion is someone with the courage to try.

A NEW Chapter

I am new to this blog thing, but I have decided to start one so that my family and friends have a way of keeping up with me outside of the Facebook/Twitter scene. I plan to use this blog to share memories and day to day life, as well as record and publish little pieces of all the things I am passionate about. Everything in my life is drive by passion. Stay tuned!
